Juju Sophie I first discovered She Keeps Bees when we supported them in my old band Little Fish. We were in Wales upstairs in a shitty pub and they were incredible. I loved the simplicity of their set up: drums and guitar, bam. Jessica's vocals are extraordinary, effortlessly oozing with cool, rich tones of life that articulate sincerity. You feel that she has lived what she is singing and I love that. They were selling their new record Dig On at the time. I bought it. I play it often. Favorite track: Stutter.

King Headswim Whether it is singing in an empty room just clapping her words out or with a full band, masterful. Favorite track: Stutter.

She Keeps Bees New York, New York

She Keeps Bees have self-recorded and released music made at home since 2006. Their debut album, Minisink Hotel, was described by NYC’s Other Music as “the best album you’ve never heard." Nests, their second full-length, was admired by the Guardian as “sparse, soulful and defiantly retro.” Their third LP, Dig On, was praised by the BBC as "an album of fire, spirit, and sweat." ... more
